Room Without Mirrors

A recent piece I've done reflects the soul burden I carry for those who seem to be groping in darkness and vanity, with so much energy spent on the "outer adorning" instead of developing the inner beauty.  "Is it possible to see yourself in a room without mirrors?" We need to take time to be still, and honest, and reflect and truly see with new eyes the truth, instead of the illusion of what is beautiful!

Abigail, this is a lovely piece and a message that touches my heart. Inner beauty is ageless, full of magic and a deep inspiration to all life. Something to be cherished.

This is a wonderful piece. I think that too many of us look for "things" to bring us beauty and joy when we should find those things within. So true, we need to work more on what's inside.

Such a moving and beautiful piece! I wish more women (and girls) would understand and appreciate their "inner beauty".

I saw an old Twilight Zone episode once that talked about "outer beauty". In the show a gorgeous girl was depressed and angry about how she looked, not as "beautiful" as everyone else. She had cosmetic surgery that did not work, she was just as "hideous" after. When the camera panned to the doctors & nurses (who were very ugly & grotesque in our eyes) you saw her dilemma. Their idea of beauty was something entirely different because they all looked alike. She ended up going to a colony for "others like her" that were deemed too ugly for society.

I worry so much what our society is teaching young girls about "outer beauty" and wish instead they would be taught to develop their "inner beauty".

Love, Emily. XOXOXO

Another thing that I love about this post is that she is wearing the placard. She can write who she is on it or she can suffer at the hands of others and let them write their version of her.

Just excellent.

Love Renee xoxo

Mama...what an amazing birthday gift!! When I first saw this painting, it spoke so deeply to me and at a time in my life when I have been struggling myself to focus less on the outward beauty and appearance and more on the inner beauty. Now I have this beautiful painting (and reminder) hanging on my wall! You are such a talented artist... but more than that you have the most beautiful spirit: loving, caring, devoted, spiritual, strong and truly an inspiration to me!! I could never thank you enough for everything you do for me Mama...I love you.
